Dentures
Dentures (or false teeth) are prosthetic appliances to replace missing teeth. Dentures are removable and supported by soft and hard tissues, but can be designed to be supported by remaining teeth or attach to dental implants.
Denture Consultation, Process and Benefits
While we always attempt to minimize the number of times patients return to the office, the process for denture creation and fitting can take three to four visits. This typically starts with a consultation visit for design and impressions to allow us to create a denture customized for your mouth. A final impression captures a much more detailed and accurate impression. A wax rim is built to help establish the correct position of your upper and/or lower jaws. The denture is finalized with all the teeth set in wax following any final adjustments. Fit is performed during the last few visits.
Dentures are often necessary due to loss of teeth, and provide a number of benefits including improved chewing ability, aesthetics for teeth, lips and cheeks, improved speech, self-esteem with looks and speech.
